"From Trash-To-Treasure"

One man's trash is another man's treasure...
What is useless to one person might be valuable to another.

This piece will go from trash to treasure

The beginning stages

Outdoor sign [Shop located in Los Olivos]

That's what I'm talkin' bout... this is not an idiom, but the above phrase fits the bill! Did I just use another idiom?[chuckling to myself]...Anyway an idiom is a characteristic mode of expression (e.g., raining cats and dogs, see the light). It is also defines as a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words.

In other words I'm going to take this unique piece [with its' linear lines and 3 dimensional moldings] and transform it into a beautiful sign that can be used indoors or outdoors. And these are the steps I will take:

1. Paint until thoroughly covered.
2. Slightly sand lines, corners and moldings to give the piece an aged appearance.
3. Replace mirror with a piece of chalk board.
4. Remove long metal pieces and make into free standing sign.

It may not look like much now but you'll have to return for the end results... you'll be astonished I promise!

Until next time happy making... trash into treasure!

"A Favorite Chandelier"

 My Entry Way

A Favorite Chandelier

I absolutely love this chandelier so much I purchased "two". And what I love is the affordability of something beautiful without spending a fortune. I mean why spend more when you don't have too?... and that's The Blue Farmhouse's philosophy... function, beauty and affordable.

I can think of a hundred places [well not quite] to hang it like bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, reception tent for a wedding, hallway, and dining room. These are a few of my first choices but I'm interested in where your thoughts?

Until next time happy thrifting, collecting and decorating.
