"In My Own Backyard...Again"

I am excited to share with you with my fabulous finds today! I'm always on the lookout for these large ornate frames. I love re purposing them to chalkboards and message boards. They have sold very well in the past to customers and shops looking for them to place in their homes or businesses.

But what I'm most excited about is the "industrial looking" moveable bar, plant work station or smorgesboard for impromptu dinner parties. My friend Laurinda sold it to me for only $10.00! Yes you read it correctly. Of course, my husband didn't have a vision for all the ways you can use this piece, but it's okay I did.

Laurinda is an awesome decorator, seamstress and stylish. I love everything that she does and we share a kindred spirit for collecting and decorating. Thank you my friend, and although my husband says that this piece will stay at here if we ever move (it's heavy and solid)....I say NEVER.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time happy collecting and thrifting...

"Newest Light Fixture"

Well as promised here's the beautiful light fixture I picked up for $3.99 while scouring through a thrift store. Between a school research paper and a brief sabbatical from thrifting, I'm very happy with this little treasure. My husband has promised to do some rewiring, and mount it on the ceiling in the hallway bathroom tomorrow.

So I will take the best pictures in order  to show you the "after" pictures and finished project. Until next time happy collecting and thrifting. The Blue Farmhouse.

(p.s. wish me luck on research paper due on Tuesday)... Yikes!!!

It needs some re-wiring and painting the gold trim to white

"Happy Weekend"

I was really looking forward to heading out to some of our favorite thrift stores after a short sabbatical of  treasure hunting after the purchase of (another) large mirror. I didn't find a lot of things, but what I did find I'm sure you're going to love too.

It's a beautiful old cut glass ceiling light fixture, and it's going to compliment the chandelier (same style) quite handsomely. You may remember the re purposed chandelier from a older post in December 2011 "Chandelier Restored."

So on tomorrow I'll share with you the before, and in a few days the completed project. Until next time happy collecting and thrifting.

"My Passion...Collecting"

I hope your weekend has been a good one so far. Mine started out with no real plans for thrifting out of town, because of needing to study. Instead I stayed close to home and look at what I found right outside my front door. The hardest part was informing my husband that I just found another chaise lounge...for only $20.00. And I picked up this rusted and faded trash can with just a hint of the green coloring showing and a platter for $3.00. I know...I know...it's not in good condition but I just had to have it.

Unfortunately I didn't capture a good enough picture to share at the moment, but trust me it's beautiful. The platter is medium in size with a faded blue trim. And on the brim of the platter is a small bird with roses all around it.

I love finding the unexpected and I'm not daunted at all on the condition of this lounge. I'm going to take it to be re upholstered and I hope you will return for the reveal of the "new" chaise lounge.

"The Luckiest Girl"

I'm the luckiest girl in the world, because I'm a proud grandma! I'm so thankful to have my son and his family here for a short visit. Just look at how much Lil Brown Feet has grown, and Painted Toe is now walking, as well as, biting if you stick your fingers in her mouth. (Ouch!) And, of course my other granddaughter is affectionately called "Snowflake". Do your grandchildren have strange sweet names like mine?!

I couldn't be any happier than I am right now, except to share my JOY with you.

Until next time... The Blue Farmhouse.
